Andra Lyons Maples, J.D.
Andra received her undergraduate degree from Augusta State University and her Juris Doctorate from Western State College of Law where she earned her place on the Honor Roll and the Dean's Circle and was also awarded the Witkin Award.
While attending law school, Andra volunteered much of her time working as a state certified law student, a volunteer tax preparer for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), and serving as President of the CLS (Christian Legal Society) and PILF (Public Interest Law Foundation) which led to her earning the Certificate of Distinguished Public Service.
Andra attended law school with the goal of practicing family law and earned a certificate in Family Practice. However, while taking a class in Mediation, she discovered that divorce does not need to be the stressful, hurtful, expensive process that she witnessed as a child when her parents divorced or that she experienced in her own divorce. She was intrigued by the thought of a peaceful divorce and began a one year internship with her mediation professor before making her final decision that she wanted to encourage couples to settle their divorces instead of fighting in court.
After law school, Andra earned the General Civil Mediation Certificate from the University of Georgia, the Domestic Mediation Certificate from The Academy of Dispute Resolution, and is registered with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.
A personal note from Andra:
I was raised in Georgia and have lived the majority of my life here. I have two sons, one daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren whom I adore. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
